Imaan Abroad

Welcome to Imaan Abroad, a space I’ve created to share a bit about the thing I love the most in this world: Travel. I’m Imaan Jeraj and I have been fortunate in my 32 years to visit 47 countries so far and I would like to share with you some of what I’ve seen.

I am no travel blog expert, but when browsing the web for information before I visit a new place, there are four things I am usually looking for.

1. A basic travel guide. Some of what you will find here will be highlights of a city or country. Top sites I visited and highlights from my time there.
2. History. I love love love history (my undergraduate degree is in Art History & Classics), and am totally addicted to Wikipedia. Learning about a place before I visit is essential to me and often the first thing I will do in a new place is visit the local museums because what better way to learn about a city!
3. Art. I did my MA in Museum Studies and have spent my years since working in various museums. In addition to learning about history, visiting museums and galleries that display the contemporary art of a place can tell you a lot about the place in which you’re traveling. And so can the street art!! Murals, public art, graffiti- seeing it all is one of my favourite parts of traveling.
4. FOOD. Anyone who knows me knows I am a total foodie. I will (almost) eat anything and I love trying new foods. Exploring nice restaurants, street food, and all the flavours of a city are absolutely one of my favourite parts of traveling.
